This Week in Twin Cities Live Music: September 28 – October 4
It is a loaded week across the metro. Big tours land at the arenas and downtown theaters, a couple of acts settle in for multi-night stands, and the small rooms are as busy as ever. Here is what is worth your night out, from the marquee shows to the club gigs you would have to dig to find anywhere else. For everything on, browse the full Twin Cities calendar.
Monday, September 28
Foster the People bring the Good Mourning Sunshine Tour to The Armory for a big indie-pop Monday, while cult California punks The Garden hold down The Fillmore with their twitchy, unclassifiable racket. If you want something quieter and stranger, BASIC — the guitar-forward summit of Chris Forsyth, Douglas McCombs, and Mikel Patrick Avery — takes over 7th St Entry.
Tuesday, September 29
It is a heavy night, literally. Knocked Loose bring Denzel Curry along for a bruising co-bill at Myth in Maplewood, and death-metal lifers Dying Fetus team with Sanguisugabogg at the Uptown Theater. For a lighter turn, viral pop breakout Artemas plays The Fillmore, and one-man looping-pop project Bayonne makes the 7th Street Entry a good bet if you like your synths built live in front of you.
Wednesday, September 30
A genuinely stacked midweek. Sara Bareilles brings The Good Grief Tour to the Orpheum Theatre, and Bryson Tiller takes the Neo Trapsoul Tour to the Mystic Lake Amphitheater. For something you will not see anywhere else, jazz-fusion wunderkinds DOMi & JD Beck bring the WHO ASKED? Tour to The Fillmore. Emo mainstays Citizen play the Varsity Theater, and rising pop act MICO gets the First Avenue mainroom.
Thursday, October 1
Turntable legend DJ Shadow plays an 18+ show at the Palace Theatre in St. Paul — a rare chance to hear a crate-digging master work a big room. Louisiana bluesman Tab Benoit brings the Soul of the Swamp Tour, with Ghalia Volt opening, to the Pantages Theatre. Boston funk-rockers Ripe fill the Varsity Theater, and the Minnesota Orchestra opens a Søndergård-led weekend of Mozart and Prokofiev at Orchestra Hall.
Friday, October 2
British doom-psych heroes Uncle Acid & The Deadbeats bring their North America '26 run to the Varsity Theater, while folk singer-songwriter Mon Rovia, with Sydney Rose, plays the Palace Theatre. Country hitmaker Justin Moore headlines Mystic Lake Casino Hotel in Prior Lake, and if you would rather dance, bass producer Crankdat takes over The Armory. Ranchera icon Edith Márquez brings Eterna e Inolvidable to the Pantages Theatre.
Saturday, October 3
The week ends heavy and eclectic. Prog-metal titans Mastodon, with Deafheaven in support, play the Palace Theatre — one of the best bills of the season. Beloved nerd-rock institution They Might Be Giants settle in at the Fitzgerald Theater, and bass-music favorite Of The Trees closes out The Armory. Over at the Varsity Theater, Haute brings Freddy's Big Disgrace Tour, and the Minnesota Orchestra wraps its Mozart-and-Prokofiev weekend at Orchestra Hall.
